My ideal job would be work in a health organization of research and intervention in latin american, like WHO (World Health Organization) or like Unicef.
I won't work a office, I want do a lot of fieldwork about nutrition and its consequences in the social aspects and vice versa, about infection illness too.
For to get a job like above I need know how collect and analyze a big quantity of biostatic data. I have thought study a Magister degree in Biostatistics at our University and after that study a Doctor degree in Human nutrition or Public health at Federal University of Río of Janeiro.
About difficulties First I need to develop a career as researcher, but I believe that as Physical athropologist I will get the profile and abilities for research. And I have some more important: the pasion to contribute to desing and apply news political of nutrition to improve the life quality of latin americans specially of child.

The creativity as the pathway
I just heard the Sir Robinson's speech. Some points of what he said are interesting for to discuss. The creativity as victim murder of the school, the school as instrument of political and economical interests, the reproduction of social system and its inequalities (associated with capitalist values).
The school is a social institution through wich the child are incorporate formally as part our society. They receive a formation that persuit to make them useful persons to the society in the future.
Of the above it results understandable, at least in a some grade, that some values penetrates deeply in the schoolar child (future workers) and in his fathers, through talks with their kids, in their works or through mass media. What I mean is that the school is a important social space of trassmision of values. In our case of values directed to consumerism, individualism, competivity, and the purpose of to improve the production and not necessary to improve the social welfare.
This is a elaborated form of alienation, and for to keep the social order they do seem like if it were normal even desirable. They kill the creativity through of which is socially expected.
I believe that the one way for to go out of this unhealthy reproduction of capitalist values is through creativity, we need imagine other differents ways of order and be critical of present system.

My favorite subject
All tuesday I have a great time because I have my favorite subject: Physical Anthropology I. I like its becuase we examine human osseous pieces after to discuss the methodological aspects of identification: how estimate sex and age.
Although at begining it was a bit weird manipulate remains of adults and of child. Now I feel so good learning specific things about our bodies and their changes, about our diversity.
Also this course is very important because what we learn is the basis for the identification of human remains and thus in the future as forensic anthropologist, I will be able to assume a heavy responsibility:
Telling a family with certainty "Yes, it's him" and give them a minimum of tranquility.
After the class of Tuesday I want not anymore than to rest on my bed, because the most of class time (since 10:15 to 16:00), we have that to stand up around the central table of examination. ¡But It's the class that I enjoy most!

My future plans
I will finish my degree of Physical anthropology at University of Chile in the next two and half years. I will take some courses of Social anthropology, since fourth year, because I want to complement my profile as researcher of bio-culturals processes.
After that I'm not sure. Exist many areas for develop me as Physical anthropologist, all it will all depends on my interests and if I get a scholarship to study a Masters or PhD, or failing if I can save enough money to pay one.
For example if I decide to follow the forensic area, it would be great go to study to The Forensic Anthropology Center at University of Tennessee.
Or If I decide will work with populations alive I would continue my formation with the posgrades programs of: Escola Nacional De Saude Publica Rio De Janeiro at University f Rio in Brasil, HENGE at Cambridge University in UK, Escuela de Salud Pública at University of Chile.
(I will refer later to my personal plans -not academic-. Because now I have no time to continue. Sorry.)

The best in my area
"From the Laboratory to the Field"
I'm not sure if he is the best in bioantrhopology, but at least he is a important Bioanthropologist. Nicholas Mascie-Taylor is director of HENGE (Human Epidemology Nutrition Growth Ecology Research Group, this entity is part of Cambridge University.
So the HENGE is a institut of academic formation, It offers a Masters course in Applied Biological Anthropology.
In my last post I said than "I'm interested to develop a line of research about populations alive", I alluded to this type of investigation.
He synthesizes really well than I believe, like bioanthropologist we can't understand the differents human diseases from only biolociacal sciences, and the same way we can't understand the social process without to considerate our biological dimension.
In other words we must to develop a approach from the combination of the social and natural sciences for -as He says- to provide the most comprehensive understanding.
I like his concpetion of the bioanthropology, because I think than betwen the culture and how the people live they diseases exists a strong connection.
And when we will do any field-work or applied research, we have to remember than association if we pretend to offer a viable solution for problems lnked with disease, nutritional status, growth and reproductive ecology.

My career
If you had seen my profile, you know that I am studying Anthropology with mention in Physical Anthropology at university of Chile. The actual semester I started the program of specialty (it is lasts three years), before I had two years of Common cycle. In that period I studied a lot of courses connected with the Social Sciences, and a couple of courses with directly relation with my mention. The problem of this situation is that, actually, we have to learn a lot of things in a little time, so you can imagine the academic charge of theoretical and methodological aspects that it refers to Biocultural science.
I haven't decided in what specific area of research I will work, but I'm interested to develop a line of research about populations alive, because I believe that in this area I can merge my social vocation and the biological knowledge than I will learn as Physical anthropologist. And through studies this type I hope to contribute to the scientific knowledge and also to develop the life quality of persons than is the most important for me.
Lamentably, this semester has been difficult for me because I had a lot of doubts as “If I chosen my specialty correctly”, I imagined how be if I had chosen Social anthropology. But now I realized than the end of semester is so close than there isn’t time for doubts or any other distraction.
Since now I am going to focus in to pass my exams. At my next vacation I will have time to think what is better for me.

One of my favorites photographs
In this photograp it is Francisca (my girlfriend)and me. It was taken at Francisca's house, about three years ago. That day was wonderful, we had a important conversation about us.
She gave a copy of this photograph with a artesenal frame at San Valentine's day. She decorated it (the frame) with the next phrase: "I lov ju" and she added a little group of bananas in the corner. "I lov ju" is part of one of our game, that game consists in saying to each other loving messages in other languages but after "chilenizarlas". And the bananas represents other gift for me, because she said that I was a gorilla.
I have this gift on my shelf in my bedroom. When I go into my bedroom, it is the first thing I see and I feel so in love as if I could explode of emotion. Because I remember all we had passed together, and how we left our difficulties in the past.
